Four pages per folded sheet
A 16-page signature contains four sheets; a 32-page signature contains eight. The last group may have fewer sheets and padding blanks.
Creep is not automatically corrected
Nested thick paper pushes inner page edges outward. This tool uses centered page fitting and a center gap; it does not calculate paper-dependent creep compensation. Use smaller signatures or a professional imposition workflow when trim tolerances matter.
Prepare the source
Flatten form fields, remove unwanted annotations and check crop boxes before uploading. Embedded pages retain their visible artwork, but a new imposed document has a different navigation structure.
Account for every blank page
A folded sheet contributes four booklet pages, so each signature needs a multiple of four. If you put ten source pages into one twelve-page signature, the two final positions are intentional blanks. They are not missing content. Review the sheet-order download to distinguish an inserted blank from an actual blank page that was already present in the source PDF.
For a longer document, choose a signature size suited to your folding and binding method. Several smaller signatures are separate folded sections; they are not automatically equivalent to one deeply nested booklet. Keep the printed sections in their output order and verify each section's first and last page before combining them into a finished item.
Thicker paper and larger nested signatures can cause inner leaves to protrude. This workbench does not apply creep compensation, trim calculations or a professional binder's adjustments. Make a physical proof with the intended paper stock. If precise trimming or production binding is required, use the printer's specified imposition process instead of assuming a digital page order solves those mechanical details.
Do not remove generated blanks merely to reduce the displayed PDF page count. Removing one spread or one side can change the relationship between front and back and break the folded sequence. Change the source page count or signature settings, regenerate the imposition, then repeat the proof rather than manually deleting output pages without a sheet plan.
